La Mia Casa.

A small, sweet café-restaurant we landed in by accident — and were glad we did.

We had somewhere else in mind — a place I’d walked past earlier, with a menu in the window that looked just right. When we got there, the other guests were all smoking inside. For us that made it an easy no, so we kept walking, and a little further on we found La Mia Casa instead.

It’s a snug little place with an English menu and genuinely kind staff. We sat at the counter, which meant we could watch the kitchen work. Cold water came freely, refilled as often as we liked, and a set of kids’ cutlery and dishware arrived without our asking.

We ordered two sets, one ramen and one oyako don. Cooking was quick and the food was tasty.

From the counter you can see how much of it comes together from convenience products more than from scratch. That’s common enough, and at these prices completely fair — we point it out only because we happened to see it.
